Those who have been fans of Source for Sports exclusive gear are in for a treat with Bauer’s new Supreme Matrix skates for 2024. Featuring a Fiber Comp boot, comfort edge padding, Aerofoam technology, and Die Cut EVA foam in the footbed, the Matrix skate is prepped to help young players develop their skating.

Skate Fit Profile

The Matrix Youth skates come in sizes 8-10 and D (Regular) width. When deciding on a skate size, a good rule of thumb is to take the player’s shoe size and drop it by 1 or 1.5 sizes.

Boot Construction & Stiffness Profile

The Fibre Comp boot construction coupled with the comfort edge padding keeps the boot softer and more enjoyable to wear for younger players. Although the build is softer to make it easier for small feet to maneuver in, as part of Bauer’s Supreme line, Matrix skates traditionally have a higher stiffness profile to empower a full skating stride.

Liner & Internal Padding

For the Matrix, Bauer used a 1-pc hydrophobic liner to wick away moisture and repel odours while your child plays. Including this kind of liner ensures that your child stays comfortable in their skates all game long without the potential distraction of a wet boot. The skates use Aerofoam Technology in the ankle padding, which is designed a bit thicker than conventional foam but is more form-fitting.

Toe Cap

The Matrix Youth skate uses a standard toe cap to keep the construction simple and accommodate a wider variety of foot shapes and sizes.

Tongue

The tongue is made of an updated 30oz pro stock felt material for premium comfort and protection. The design is made to form fit around and over your child’s foot for extra coverage, and the thick felt coupled with the tough exterior help shield the front ankle area from harm while they play.

Insoles

The Matrix Youth skates use a Die Cut EVA foam footbed, which helps keep the skates soft, comfortable, and more familiar for small and more delicate feet.

Lacing System

The Matrix uses a standard flex facing lace system along the eyelets with improved durability and reliability in the materials used.

Steel Runner, Holder & Blade Profile

To hold the blade in place, the Supreme Matrix Youth skate employs a TUUK Lightspeed Pro II holder to lock the runner in place. For steel, the Matrix uses an LS Pulse SS Stainless Steel blade, which is durable with a solid glide to help young children keep their balance on the ice.

Graphics

Now onto the most exciting part: the new Matrix graphics. The Supreme Matrix boot looks very similar to the highest-end Mach in terms of the slick, black colouration and silver accents and logos. The accents depict cybernetic patterns along the sides in addition to Bauer’s new graphic logo on the heel.
