Artist Stephanie Caplan grew up in Newton, Massachusetts and currently lives in the East Village of New York. She draws on the energy of the city, as well as her academic background in Judaism and art history, to create ketubahs that combine art and ritual in new and surprising ways. The Garden Ketubah mixes classic Americana style with the exuberance of botanical drawings. Washes and layers of watercolor depict rolling hills in the distance as purple and white flowers bloom in the foreground. This thick and saturated border provides beautiful contrast to the graphic calligraphy in the center, bringing dimension and movement to the text itself.
